The highly anticipated Marry My Husband episode 9 was broadcasted on TVN and Prime Video on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Episode Recap:

The plot of MARRY MY HUSBAND Episode 9 begins with the lavish proposal that Min-hwan makes to Ji-won. 

Flashback:

In a flashback, Ji-hyuk talks to Min-gwan and tells him that the company will give Ji-won a villa at the lakeside for the weekend as a reward for all the hard work that Kim gyeong-uk has done.

Proposer & Birthday Celebration:

Then, Min-hwan tells Ji-hyuk that he plans to propose to Ji-won while celebrating her birthday at the villa. Ji-won agrees to help Min-hwan, and we find out that he set up the drones and fireworks.

Now, at the lake's edge, she comes up to Ji-won to apologize and tell her that she wants to be friends with Ji-won again, but Ji-won refuses to let her go. Then, she stands on the pier's edge and threatens to jump in the water.

Ji-hyuk then hears a splash and goes to the lake's edge to try and save Ji-won. But Su-min catches her and drags her under the water, and by the time she gets to the surface, both of them are already gone.

Later, at Ji-won's villa, she tells everyone that she thought Su-min had slipped, and they all go to sleep. They all go to bed and Min-chwan wakes up and is surprised to see Su-min sleeping in his bed and she says to Min-chwan, “Let's sleep together”.

At the bottom of the stairs, Ji-won reveals the truth that Su-min had jumped and knocked her down. She is genuinely shocked.

Romantic moment:

Then, Hui-yeon walks into the room and Ji-hyuk grabs Ji-won, pulling her behind a pillar to conceal them both. Then, he takes her on a boat to the centre of a lake, where he used to go when he was feeling lost. He consoles her and wishes her happy birthday.

Marriage Announcement At Office:

At the workplace, Ji-won breaks the news to everyone that she is getting married. Then, she asks Ji-hyuk if he can come to the department store over the weekend to see how she spends Min-hwan's money.

It is customary for Min-hwan to have a family dinner where he introduces Ji-won to the family. Hui-yeon tells Ji-won that he must buy her shoes and clothing before the dinner. It seems that the best friend must buy the bride's shoes as well.

Su-min shows up at Ji-won's house later that day and gives her red heels, which are the same ones that Su-min was wearing that day. He also gives Ji-won cooking lessons from Yuhan mall, which is the same place that Ji-won's mom used to go in the future, and Ji-won just pretends not to notice.

Cooking Classes:

On the way to the store's cooking class, Ji-won has a run-in with her, while Su-min appears to be the kinder, gentler version of himself. 

While Joo-ran is working, her daughter calls from home crying and hungry because her father is not at home. She rushes outside but gets caught in traffic. At that moment, she sees a man riding a bike and it turns out that it is Lee Seok Jun. She calls him and asks him to give her a ride. When she comes home, Lee Seok Jun is already back and he is feeding his daughter ramen. He is not remorseful about leaving his daughter alone.

Ji-won’s cooking at the cooking class continues to leave a bad taste in Ja-ok’s mouth intentionally. However, at the end of the cooking class Ji-won manages to impress the cooking instructor. 

In a flashback, it is shown that Ja-ok taught Ji-won how to cook very harshly. In the present Ji-won tries to use these skills to surprise Ja-ok by inviting Su-min to the mall after Ji-won calls him and invites him to shop. Su-min says he has plans and leaves the mall.

Ji-won's Shopping:

At the shopping center, Ji-won buys bags filled with luxurious products, including the pink Chanel handbag Su-min kept with her for a while. After the shopping trip, Ji-won tries to call Eun-ho, but Min-hwan picks up the phone and asks Eun-ho for a discount on the family dinner at Ji-won's restaurant.

Eun-ho & Ji-won: 

Eun-ho is seated with the three girls that bullied Ji-won, and they want to apologize to Ji-won. Ji-won rings Eun-ho and tells her that he's sorry for what Min-hwan did, but he's still willing to host the family dinner for her.

Hospital Scene:

Upon Ji-hyuk’s return from Japan, he heads to the hospital to see his grandfather. He finds out that Ji-hyuk used the yacht and drones, and accuses Ji-won of being a bad person. Ji-hyuk reminisces about his grandfather’s death, which is set to take place in 10 years, and embraces his grandfather.

On the way to Ji-won’s house, she notices Ji-hyuk is waiting for her in the car. As they talk, she tells Ji-hyuk that she doesn’t think he knows what he wants to do with his life. She encourages him to begin by focusing on the things that bring him joy. She asks if she can hold his hand, and he offers hers.

Min-hwan's parents are getting ready for a family reunion at his house. Suddenly, Su-min shows up at the house and starts flirting with him again. 

Ji-won's Bold Entry:

When they finally arrive at the restaurant, Ji-won is not there yet. She walks in right after his parents, wearing a tight black dress that his parents think is inappropriate. During the meal Ji-won starts to argue with Ja-ok about something.

Ji-hyuk at his house signs a series of documents that guarantee his cat will be taken care of while he's away. Then, he opens a box that contains the same sparkly necklace he bought Ji-won before.

Ji-won Action:

In the restaurant, at the beginning, “Ji-won” is told by “Ja-ok” that she will have to “change” in order to “accept” into the “family”, and he gives her a list of “rules” that she needs to follow, and Ji-won goes along with it until she makes an inappropriate remark about her father, and then she decides to fight against it and call off the wedding, and “Min-hwan” goes after her, but she breaks off her engagement with him, and when he grabs her by the arm, she uses her judo skills to throw him to the ground, and that’s how “Marry my Husband” ends.

Episode Review:

In episode 9, Su-min gets even uglier, Min-hwan gets even more rude, and Ji-won gets a dramatic victory over her rivals. This isn’t a realistic portrayal of friends and lovers, it’s an over-the-top, soap opera version, and boy are we loving it.

Ji-won’s battle with Su-min is a game-changer, especially when we get to see how Ji-won manipulates the situation to her own benefit. 

Ji-hyuk's suffering helps push Marry my Husband Episode 9 forward by furthering his connection with Ji-won, so all in all, a healthy dose of drama.

With only 7 episodes left in the series, this level of excitement may only last for a few more episodes.

Soo-Min and Ji-Won have to get back together to change their destiny.

But in this episode, the chief suddenly gets a stomach ache.

The drama is getting more and more intense, but that only makes the show better. Watching this drama after work every Monday and Tuesday is a great way to relax. The relatively fast-paced nature of the episode also keeps viewers glued to the screen.
